1. What is Tape-Seal? Is it glaze?
Tape-Seal is a uniquely formulated clear acrylic gel that dries within 10 - 15 minutes. Tape-Seal is NOT glaze. Glaze is a much thinner consistency and takes a VERY long time to dry.
2. How does Tape-Seal work?
Tape-Seal is a clear acrylic gel that bleeds under the painters tape and creates a barrier stopping the colored paint from bleeding under. This leaves you with a perfect paint line.
3. How do I apply Tape-Seal?
You apply Tape-Seal with a dry paint brush at the edge of the painters tape. (You will be applying Tape-Seal to the edge of the tape and the surface you are about to paint so that Tape-Seal can bleed under the painters tape) Once Tape-Seal is dry to the touch (approximately 10 -15 minutes) all you do is paint right on top of it with your mixed color paint.
4. How much coverage do I get with an 8 or 16 oz jar?
An 8 oz jar of Tape-Seal will seal approximately 1200 linear feet, or 6 rolls of painters tape. A 16 oz jar will cover approximately 2400 linear feet, or 12 rolls of painters tape.
5. How do I compute linear feet?
If you have a 10 x 10 foot room, without vaulted ceilings, you would have 40 linear feet of ceiling to seal and shy of 40 linear feet of baseboards. Keep in mind that most doors have trim so you would need to add the linear feet of the height of the door(s). You can use a tape measure for more specific measurements.
6. Does Tape-Seal work on textured surfaces?
Yes! Most surfaces will require only one coat of Tape-Seal. However, extremely pitted surfaces such as Orange Peel texture may require 2 coats of Tape-Seal applied prior to painting, depending on how heavily textured the surface is.
7. Will Tape-Seal work with most painter's tape?
Yes, Tape-Seal will work with most painter's tape but we suggest using a quality painter's tape, typically blue or green in color Look for such key words as 'easy release' and 'tear resistant'.
8. How much does Tape-Seal cost?
8 oz jar of Tape-Seal is $7.99 and 16 oz jar is $11.99.
9. Do I have to pay sales tax?
Purchases in the state of Arizona will be charged 7.8% sales tax at the time of check out.
10. What shipping method does Tape-Seal use?
Tape-Seal is shipped via United States Postal Service. The options are Priority or Parcel Post.
11. How much is shipping?
Priority = $4.99 for orders under $15.00, $5.99 for orders between $15.00 - $29.99, $6.99 for orders between $30.00 - $49.99, and $7.99 for orders over $50.00. Parcel Post = $1.00 less for the above increments.
12. When will my Tape-Seal ship?
Your order will ship within 24 hours M-F. In most cases, if the order is received prior to 10 a.m. M-F it will ship the same business day.
